Last Day of June

For my household, June was probably the least unusual month of 2020.

In a way, I am sad to see it go. In another, I am not.

The June topics of the month of Radio Silence, Promo Art, and Author Retreats are not my strengths, so hopefully I will have more to say in July.

Well, I wish you a wonderful last day of June, and leave you with this image I found on Pixaby.

Closing Thoughts on Promo Art and Radio Silence

Closing Thoughts on Promo Art and Radio Silence

It’s the end of the month…

So far you’ve learned about the importance of Radio Silence and why you need Promo Art / Graphics.

To be honest this month’s theme was an odd bag of topics…

But, here’s why we chose to talk about it…

  1. Promotional Art / Graphics is something that every author needs to have to promote their book.
    • Without graphics then their words go unnoticed to the millions of eyes scanning the internet.
    • Promo Art / Graphics gives you that oomph and helps set you a part from the rest of the authors out there.
    • The more relevant the graphic is to your story (and to your readers) then the more likely they’ll pay attention to it.
  2. June is like the half-way mark in the year.
    • This is when you need to set up your promotional graphics for the rest of the year.
    • Plenty of people set their vacation time around June.
  3. We discussed Radio Silence because about this time of the year people are feeling fatigued.
    • Especially with all of the online stuff. They forget about their new years resolution.
    • So, Radio Silence is that gentle nudge of getting you to jump back on the “limit digital time” wagon.
  4. Younger audiences are on online more.
    • Families may benefit by learning about Radio Silence to help reset online time expectations.
  5. Also, June is vacation month…
    • Which means when you’re offline you’ll have some time.
    • Time to create your promotional graphics or just read a good book to unwind.

So, there you have it… the many reasons as to why we discussed Promo Art and Radio Silence for the month of June.

Is It Still June?

Is It Still June?

I don’t really have anything more of value to say about the June topics of Radio Silence and Promo Art.  And I have zero experience with Author Retreats.

Sure, at some point in the future I am not opposed by the idea of hosting an author retreat.  Nor am I opposed to the idea of attending a retreat.

In my early stages of research for author retreats, I came across this website.

It has a list of a handful of author retreats.  If attending a retreat is something you are interested, check it out.

And if you would be interested in attending a future (if it happens, it will not happen any sooner than the summer of 2022) Author Retreat featured by Burning Embers, comment below that you are interested, and what type of activities and resources that would entice you to join our retreat as compared to any other.

My Promo Art

Mornin Friends!

I only have 1 piece of promo art that I created myself. The rest I bartered for, or friends made for me out of the goodness of their hearts.

So today, I would like to few a couple different pieces of promo art from a few different artists. And I ask you to look them over and see what works, what doesn’t, and why.

Radio Silence and How It’ll Save You

Radio Silence and How It’ll Save You

Radio Silence, what is it and how will it save you?

Okay this post could not have come at a better time than now.

No, before you get upset hear me out.

There’s been a lot of stuff going on in the Social Media sphere and emotions are running high.

When exposed to too much toxicity then your mind starts to get overloaded and then you start to physically get sick.

So, you need to stop because, you need to take care of yourself too. Spending too much time on social media or other online social outlet like YouTube for news, etc, etc, can stress you out.

And when you’re stressed out then the people around you feel stressed out.

The How…

This is why setting a day out of the week or a certain time during the day / night to not be online but instead disconnect.

To take this time to reconnect with family, a hobby, sport, or meditation will be good for you to unwind.

I am told by friends, whom I’ve suggested Radio Silence, that it has made them feel better.

Not only do they feel better but their family and friends feel more connected with them.

Spouses, I’ve heard, actually love the idea knowing that their loved one will commit a day of the week or time of day to putting down their electronic devices to spend time with them and the wee ones (if they have them.)

Disconnecting from the internet can be a blissful vacation for your mind.

When you come back you’ll find out that you truly needed that break, feeling refreshed and ready to take on that task that you put on hold.

Take Action

Now, time to take action and schedule your radio silence.

Look at your calendar and determine what day of the week or time of day you can commit to disconnecting from the online world.

Now, go ahead and schedule it as a reoccuring meeting that way you can’t skimp out on it. No, excuses. Your time to unplug is valuable.

Your significant other will thank you and your kids will love you until the ends of time for it.

Until Next Time…
